February was a very busy month for Liner Designs and we were able to introduce four new and exciting ships to the fleet while starting on some interesting new projects - including a Royal Visitor! Read below to learn more.

NEW TO THE FLEET

M/S AURELIA

SS Britanis by Liner Designs - Learn More.

This month we’re happy to introduce the beloved ‘Aurelia’ of COGEDAR line, a chic little liner well-remembered by many of her former passengers and crew. I began this drawing way back in February 2018 and intended to finish it for a whole year - now its all done! I’m glad for it too because this ship has some fascinating history. You can read it about it on this month’s ‘In the Spotlight’ available here.

M/S ROMANZA

Aurelia was bought by Greece’s ‘Chandris Lines’ and set about running popular cruises throughout the Mediterranean. You can read more about her exploits in this month’s ‘In the Spotlight’ available here.

SS AMERIKANIS

AME90.png

Amerikanis - another of Chandris’ famous cruisers - had a fantastic reputation and generated a lot of ‘return-travellers’. A very handsome ship for certain - this one was fun to draw!

M/S THE VICTORIA

VICT86.png

We were commissioned to illustrate this ship, like Amerikanis, for a former crew member. Its hard to believe she began life as ‘Dunnottar Castle’ - so extensive was her re-build into a sleek, modern liner.

RMS QUEEN MARY

We at Liner Designs are proud to announce that soon an incredible ship will be joining our fleet! What better ship is there that so perfectly represents the grandiose luxury and raison d'être of the Ocean Liner than Queen Mary?

When complete, this drawing of the Queen Mary will be the largest and most accurate of its kind in the world measuring just shy of 2 meters in length.

We are going to all efforts to include accurate rivet patterns, frame locations, sidelights and innumerable other iconic details of this incredible ship.

We have BIG plans for this drawing when she has finished and look forward to the day when we can officially welcome ‘The Queen’ to join our gradually-expanding fleet of ships.

No other vessel’s bow could be more iconic than that of Queen Mary’s.

Unfortunately we didn’t get much to work on Fairsea this month but we’ll put some time into her this March and get the little Liner done!

Another liner paused while we completed our commissions for the month. Orion is certainly well-underway however and looks to join the fleet this month.

We were able to get a little work done on this iconic American ship this month and hope to have her finished before long! Keep an eye out for her on next month’s ‘On the Stocks’.

SS LURLINE & SS MONTEREY

Lurline - aren’t the Matson Line colours handsome?

Lurline and her sister Monterey are in a good state of completion and should be ready soon. Just like America, keep an eye out for them on next month’s instalment of ‘On the Stocks’!

That’s it for this month! We’re excited to see what projects the coming month will bring and hope you are too. Do you have any questions or comments? Please feel free to get in touch with us here;
