The crown princess - for free!
This month I did something a little different by offering a full drawing file for free download - the first time I’ve ever done such a thing! What ever would compel one to do something so mad - especially considering it will probably be found on the farthest-flung corners of the internet with my name scrubbed from the credit!?
The names Kronprinzessin Cecilie, Kaiser Wilhelm II, Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse and Kronprinz Willhelm have been seemingly struck from the public consciousness - but at the turn of the last century, these ships were the very last word on Edwardian transatlantic stateliness. I was approached by a fellow named Sander who runs a very tidy instagram account (@germanliners - highly recommended!) who offered to share part of his vast library of resources if I would endeavour to draw Cecilie - his favourite ship. After a few months of research and deliberating - she’s ready for show!
Its my hope that, in providing Cecilie available for free to download, people are perhaps intrigued by this elegant atlantic ‘greyhound’ and hope to learn more about her and her sisters. On top of this, at full 300Dpi resolution and around 1.3 meters long, Cecilie shows just what Liner Designs illustrations look like at full scale.
