TSMV Wanganella, 1953
TSMV Wanganella, 1953
Huddart Parker was an Australian shipping line operating from the 1870s to the 1960s. While its fleet size could only be described as modest at best, the line boasted a couple of gems; and Wanganella was one of them. The plucky little liner's pedigree was superb; she had been launched as 'Achimota' at Harland and Wolff, Belfast, in 1932 for Elder Dempster line but the company ran into post-crash financial troubles and could not take ownership. So it was that Melbourne-based Huddart Parker bought her and renamed her Wanganella.
Liner Designs prints are proudly made in Australia and to order. This print can be purchased to depict the ship either at the waterline as she would have appeared sailing or in full, including propellers and keel.
